The Love Boat #2

Here is an update on the adventures of “The Love Boat,” the wager of a young couple who left everything behind for a transatlantic crossing aboard a Sun Légende 41.

“Our sail along the coast of Spain and Portugal was very nice: different languages, the first warm temperatures and anchorages shared with other travellers. The voyage began to sink in for us. At each new stop, further and further from our home port, we were reminded that this is it, we have truly left! On foot, by bus, by train, we discovered Baiona, Porto, Lisbon,... and arriving by sailboat lent each a very special charm.

We have also met other owners of the Sun Légende 41. Each time, without fail, I wave “hello” and ask to visit. It is always nice to compare and to exchange technical and decorating tips!

Since our departure, we have been through all sorts of conditions. From absolute calm to 35 knots, we always have great confidence in our sailboat, which handles very well in rough seas. Double-handed, our 41-footer suits us perfectly: she is comfortable at sea and handles well at port or at an anchorage.

At the end of October, a problem with our main sail brought us to Gibraltar, or more precisely to the Marina d'Alcaidesa, an unplanned stopover. In this remarkable place, we met many sailors who were also making a stop for technical reasons, an opportunity for us to share our concerns. Some new friendships were also born around animated card games.

Now so close to Africa, we modified our itinerary: our next stop will be Morocco, in stead of Madera!”
